This article will demonstrate the following:
In a report from the BBC News Online, there was a discovery of 250 million year old bacteria found in a rock crystal 2,000 feet below the surface in New Mexico. These bacteria were reanimated, but an even more surprising discovery is that the bacteria were found to closely resemble modern-day bacteria. Here is the link to the article regarding these reanimated bacteria: BBC News | SCI/TECH | Row over ancient bacteria Strong Evidence against EvolutionThese bacteria represent strong evidence against the Theory of Evolution, as there is no way possible that ancient bacteria, millions of years old, could genetically resemble modern-day bacteria. There should have been a stark contrast between the ancient and the modern. According to the Theory of Evolution, these ancient bacteria should show distinct genetic differences, as genetic variation should have accumulated over the millions of years between the ancient strain and modern strains. According to the article, there have been doubts cast about possible contamination, but the original researchers stand by their work. Professor Russell Vreeland states that the possibility of contamination is less than one chance in a million. ConclusionThese bacteria represent strong evidence against the Theory of Evolution. Millions-year-old bacteria should not resemble modern bacteria. |
